Today was my first and only day taken up fully by a tour, this one included glacier walking, black sand beaches, and two waterfalls. I was picked up at 9:30 and from here we headed south-east for about 2 hours. We then arrived at the Solheimajokull Glacier. Here we were set up with helmets, crampons (to hook onto our hiking boots) and also a pick axe, just incase anyone decided to go for a "slip n slide". Our group was only a small group of 11 so this made the experience even better! I loved every second of the walk, despite having 10mins of hail and bad winds whilst we were right at the top it was an amazing experience, also knowing that one day this glacier in particular will probably melt away completely made it a bit more special. Our tour guide told us that a few people have been lost up here whilst hiking alone, and the only things they have been able to recovered have been crampons and a axe, scary stuff!
The final photo is a schools project of recording how many meters the glacier melts away each year. in the year 2010 the glacier was up to that sign and has since dropped back ALOT. This was unbelievable, the melting rate was so high!

From here we kept heading east for about 20mins before coming to Reynisdrangar, these are sea stacks just off the coast along with some very cool rock formations, black sand, VERY rough seas, and also a wedding :) It was quite cold whilst we were down here but managed to get some great photos :)
From here we were headed off to two of the waterfalls I had already visited on my first few days over here. It was still quite fun as I climbed up to the top of one, and then walked behind the other!
I tried to get a comparison photo of the difference in the landscape over the short amount of time whilst iv been over here, not exactly the same photo but I'm sure you guys get the gist of it :)
By the time i arrived back in town it was well past dinner time and i was STARVING! I decided tonight was going to be pizza night. Using trip advisor I worked out exactly where I was going and what I was having haha. This place was quite hidden and unadvertised, only knowing it was there by the tatty poster looking menu on the outside wall. Im glad I chose to go here, my bbq pork and pear pizza was Delicious. Although I was disappointed when I read the desserts, Id already put myself into a partial "food coma" by eating the entire pizza, a trip back there is going to be had I think!
Tomorrow will be a sight seeing, shopping and ice hockey day :) Hoping the weather stays okay and I get to see all the amazing things in this beautiful city! xxx
